The first and currently planned only release candidate for Butterfly 2.6.1 is now available.
A lot of the work for 2.6.1 was already prepared in the weeks before Butterfly 2.6.0 was released. This allowed development to continue on new improvements while the final 2.6.0 release candidates were being tested and prepared for stable.
Because of that, 2.6.1 already contains quite a few improvements despite arriving shortly after 2.6.0.
I will keep this post relatively short though. The bigger features will get a proper explanation in the stable 2.6.1 release post.

Improved presentation tool
The presentation tool has received a larger upgrade with slides, keyframes, camera rotation and transition controls.
There is quite a bit to talk about here, so this will get a proper explanation in the stable 2.6.1 post.
Automatic document thumbnails
Butterfly can now automatically generate a document thumbnail when you close a document.
This can be controlled per document and through the default settings, making it easier to keep useful previews without having to create them manually.
Better zoom, rotation and input controls
Zoom and rotation controls are now combined and include step buttons, direct angle input and a rotation reset.
There are also several different zoom panel layouts, separate sensitivity settings for pan, zoom, rotation and scrolling, plus configurable Shift+Space dragging for rotating the canvas.
Double-tap and triple-tap shortcuts are now grouped inside the mouse, touch and stylus settings. A note also explains that these shortcuts add a small input delay while Butterfly waits to see whether another tap follows.
This release also fixes held keyboard shortcuts not being released correctly and temporary hand navigation remaining active after releasing a mouse or pen button.
Smoother file management and saving
Renaming files now preserves note extensions and hides those extensions from the rename field.
Saving notes without an extension has also been fixed and failed saves can now be retried.
The file view stays visible while renaming, creating, deleting or refreshing files instead of disappearing during those actions.
Collaboration, embeds and smaller reliability fixes
Undo and redo now render correctly during collaboration.
Embeds can now get and set the current view state, making it possible for integrations to control and restore the current camera state.
Pasted images should no longer show small visual artifacts either.
There are also several smaller UI and platform fixes, including improved settings navigation, number inputs, branding, Linux release information, AppImage update channels and Android page size support.
